Blogfest!

Hey everybody,

I hope you've survived the cookies, the family gatherings, and the year end review and resolving with your sanity at least mostly intact. Being my biggest accomplishment for 2010 was surviving it, I am first of all resolving not to look back on it too much in-depth. Maybe years from now. Right now, looking ahead is the much better way to go. Second, I'm resolving not to make any other resolutions this year.

I came upon Vicki's Eye Candy Blogfest at the last minute but being as grateful as I am for the sight I can use, I couldn't resist so here's my entry. She asked for a (PG rated- this appears to be an all-ages friendly blogfest...) picture that makes you smile. It can be anything as long as it makes you smile every time you look at it. There are 39 other entries as I type this so I hope you'll check some of them out too, I'm looking forward to it.

So here we go.

I think it pretty much speaks for itself. I hope it makes you smile too.

I should be back to posting with decent regularity at least, I hope, in the days ahead. I do still have to conserve my vision and more importantly I don't want to talk unless I really have something to say- you know how it is around here. I value your time, and I come here to really interact with you, so I will try to make my posts count in the new year and beyond.

I want to thank all of you for your support and many kindnesses to me in 2010, some of which have simply appeared in my life in the most unexpected, amazing, and serendipitous ways...I am grateful beyond words!

Hoping that 2011 brings you everything good, bright, and happy!

xoxo

PS Sorry if you're reading this in a reader and get it twice- I HAD to fix my typo when I realized I'd misspelled Vicki's name. Sorry, Vicki!

Since I'm here anyway- here's that other picture. After losing two babies to miscarriage, I couldn't believe it the day I brought her home (took this that day. She has always been so curious about everything- still is.)

30 What say you to that?:

  1. That's a darling picture. I can see why it makes you smile. Thanks for joining in the pictorial fun today!

  2. Happy Happy New Year, Bru! That picture is adorable. Is it your daughter?

You've become such an integral part of my blogosphere now I can't imagine not having you here. So please take extraordinary care with your eyes. I hope everything is going well with that. You sound a lot better. I hope the holidays weren't too stressful. I'm just glad they're over.

  11. Anne- *huge hugs* Thank you- you are definitely one of the people that absolutely keeps me here. Have to be sure to always keep in touch- you're such a keeper!

Thank you for asking...to be honest, the holidays were hell, but at least, they're over now and along the way I was shown a lot of kindness by friends I didn't even realize I had yet. On to better days, right?!?

About the picture- thank you so much everybody! *waving to all the new and smiling faces and sending hugs to the familiar smiling ones!* I'm looking forward to making the rounds to look at all your entries after I make a new cup of coffee. Hope to see you again here in future, stop by any time.

Yes, she's definitely mine, and the fauxhawk (don't you love it when they sleep on their side and wear the hair off? *laugh*) has been replaced by hair in her face all the time, braces on her teeth and a battle over how much eyeliner is too much. I cannot believe that picture was taken in 1996 (she was four months old.) Where did the time go?

If you're only going to be able to have one kid, though, what a way to do it! This is my favorite baby picture of her ever. Though there's one of her the day I brought her home I almost posted instead....maybe I'll add it. Hmm...

Okay, off to look at pretty pictures!

  22. What an absolutely adorable girl. My kids are now 7 and 5, and I so miss their babyness. They are absolutely lovely even now, but that special something is gone, never to come back.

(Not fighting over eyeliner, yet, though).

Happy New Year, and thank you for stopping by at my blog.

  23. Thank you so much to everyone for your comments and welcome to my new followers (hopefully I'm already following you too!) Great comments, great pictures from you all and a great blogfest, thanks again to Vicki for hosting.

Sorry this is such a pathetic response to such great remarks- having a really bad eye day today. Time to take off the big glasses and go no correction for a bit!
